About Venice
Venice is situated on one hundred and seventeen small islands and has one hundred and fifty canals, connected by numerous bridges. The city was founded in 5-6th centuries by refugees from Altino and Aquileia after the barbarian invasions of Northern Italy. Venice is very busy in the flourishing months of the spring, around Easter, Christmas, New Year and, of course, in February when the famous Venetian festival Carnevale is held. The best way of getting around that charming Italian city is by paying up for the "expensive-but-worth-it" classical gondola ride. The attractions of Venice are numerous including impressive collection of bronze work, paintings from 5th and 6th centuries and a whole handful of amazing architectural monuments.
