About Genoa
Genoa, the birth place of Christopher Columbus, is a very ancient city, founded even before Rome. It is situated on the Italian Riviera in the province of Liguria. In the Middle Ages Genoa was one of the major maritime republics of the Mediterranean and a great naval power. Today it has 700 000 population and is the center of the Liguria region.
